7th Grade Language Arts Course Syllabus Academic Expectations for Language Arts 1.Students are expected to complete all assignments that are assigned in class and for homework. 2.If a student is absent, that student has five (5) days to make up any class work missed. There are make-up work folders in the class room that will have the agenda and any worksheets given on the days that they missed. The student will be responsible for getting the work missed and turning it in within five days after they were absent. **Special circumstances, such as long term illnesses, may require that the policy be modified for individual students. This is at the discretion of the instructor. 3.Grades will be assigned, in accordance with Walton County Board of Education policies 4.Students will be required to keep a three-ring binder for all subjects. A table of content will be provided for students. It is the student’s responsibility to keep the binder items in an organized fashion. The instructor will make every effort to three-hole punch papers for students. The Language Arts section of the binder will be checked periodically during the year. A notebook table of content will be given to each student and posted in the classroom. 5.The Walton County Mastery Grading System is: 40% - Mastery (Test, Projects, Final Essays, Performance Tasks) 30% - Progress (Quizzes, Class work, Homework, Essay Drafts, etc.) 20% - Participation (Warm-Ups, Class Assignments, etc.) 10% - Final Exam
